It's been some time, now am back, and posting! The last since I posted had gotten married and gone for a honeymoon. What's been happening, well its time to catch up with friends. And in Singapore, there are lots of places to hang out at, we were at Oriole Cafe at 313, charming place. And there are places like Kinki Rooftop Bar and Nueva Cuba (first outlet is Cuba Libre at Clarke Quay) at the Customs House. Lots of new places have sprouted, and Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World are big highlights for places to dine at. Went to Universal Studios, what a great weekend we had with Battlestar Galatica. What a thrillride (it's not for the fainthearted)! If you cant bring your family out of SG, Universal Studios (http://www.rwsentosa.com/Attractions/UniversalStudiosSingapore) is lots of fun, perhaps staying at the Hard Rock Hotel?

To commemorate its opening, the event had a festive note, making it a Re!Joice Opening cum Mid-Autumn Appreciation Night. With this theme, the Re!Joice Ballroom was decorated in Mid-Autumn Festival style with lanterns and guests were entertained with Chinese music and dance, including booths for Feng Shui Reading, Photo booths where one can take home their photos, lucky dips and more.

Guests include business associates for the past 2 years since the opening of Hotel Re! and they were treated to a sumptuous buffet dinner helmed by Celebrity Chef William Ang. An exciting lion dance greeted our guests and celebrity emcee Mr. Moses Lim entertained with his humourous anecdotes and professionalism.

Moses Lim invited the Management of Hotel Re! for the ribbon cutting ceremony that brought huge applause from the guests on this auspicious occasion, officiating the Grand Opening of Re!Joice Ballroom.

Hotel Re! believes in helping the needy, as such part of the proceeds of the inaugural sale of Mooncakes went to the Children’s Cancer Foundation with a cheque presentation by Hotel Re! to the Charity cause. The amount raised at the Re!Joice Grand Opening through fund raising activities was at $9018. The total amount raised through partial proceeds from the sale of Hotel Re! Mooncakes was at $15,000. Therefore the total amount that Hotel Re! raised for the Children’s Cancer Foundation was at $24,018.

In fact, Hotel Re!’s mooncakes were purchased by guests at 20% off per box at the party, with full proceeds that went towards the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

JP Pepperdine Group Pte Ltd Acquires Restaurant Hoshigaoka

JP Pepperdine, owner of well-known F&B brands Jack’s Place, Eatzi Gourmet and Brewbaker’s kitchen & bar, announced the acquisition of Restaurant Hoshigaoka recently in 2010.

As part of the acquisition, Restaurant Hoshigaoka has undergone a rebranding exercise. The outlet located at Isetan Scotts, Level 4, has been rejuvenated with redesigned interiors to reflect the new ownership, while an updated menu featuring improved variety, enhanced quality and value-for-money is being offered.

More than an update to the well-loved brand, the redesign is formulated in line with the traditions and values of the restaurant’s original founder, Kitaoji Rosanjin. JP Pepperdine hopes to continue to serve cherished long-time customers while bringing Restaurant Hoshigaoka to a new generation of diners.

Restaurant Hoshigaoka was first opened in Singapore at the Apollo Hotel in 1972. Initially named Hoshigaoka Saryo, the restaurant from Japan brought with it traditional Japanese cooking with an emphasis on discerning culinary tastes, sumptuous dishes, a serene atmosphere and trademark Japanese hospitality. To appeal to a broader market, Hoshigaoka Saryo was renamed Restaurant Hoshigaoka in 1986.

After 38 years in Singapore, the rebranding is slated to refresh the brand while preserving the original sentiments and values of its founder.

For every mooncake box purchased from Hotel Re!, partial proceeds will go to the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF).

SPH websites win 29 Hitwise awards

News and lifestyle websites of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) took 29 awards in the Hitwise Top 10 Rankings in the first half of 2010, with AsiaOne.com, Zaobao.com, ST701.com, HardwareZone.com and STOMP taking the number one spot in their respective categories.

Seven of AsiaOne's verticals were ranked among the top 10 in their respective categories. In particular, AsiaOne's soshiok.com and health.asiaone.com continue to maintain their number one positions since 2008, dominating the Food and Beverage (Lifestyle and Reference) and the Health and Medical (Information) categories respectively.

Other AsiaOne verticals that did well include its business section, which was ranked second in the Business and Finance (Stocks and Shares) category and third in the Business and Finance (Business Information) category. In addition, its divaasia.com clinched the No. 3 spot for Lifestyle (Women's Sites) and DigitalOne.com also scored third in the News and Media (IT Media) category.

Mr Adrian Tay, Editor of AsiaOne, said: "AsiaOne is continually reinventing itself and trying to connect with its readers by packaging content that will enrich their lives. The awards are another indication that our formula to provide news and lifestyle content is resonating with our readers."

Maintaining its number one position was Zaobao.com in the News and Media (Print) category. The online version of SPH Chinese flagship daily Lianhe Zaobao also won 4 other awards.

Hi, to all those who worked hard for the YOG, from the athletes to organisers and volunteers, kudos! Job well done, it's really great to see the Olympic Flag raised and Flame lit in Singapore. And to let the Youths have an actual run for the games before they turn adults. Imagine 8 years of the sporting life with 2 chances at the Olympics when you're an adult sports person. With Youth Olympic Games, there are opportunities and exposure, there is a chance to have at least 1 to 2 games before the Olympics. So despite some strange comments and complaints, we did it hosting this new game and organising it in 2 1/2 years (just a few days more to go)!! xx

And so we say it every 4 years and thank goodness for the vuvuzelas and all the buzz this year! Well am not a football fan, but it is very fun and will join in with friends and the crowd to catch the last perhaps 3 matches??

So for not exactly a fan or a Great FAN where will u go catch the World Cup??

The market is picking up yes, however if you are faced with a situation, will like to share with you some tips, and hope this will help you. All the best, May God Bless!

1.Pray, join a credible religion.
2.Have an objective in mind, perhaps a change of jobscope, perhaps to do a business instead, keep options open, explore options. Have a Plan and Plan B.
3.Network a lot preferably at Networking events (be prepared to pay some minimum event fee) held by Associations, the Media who hold Free Flow parties etc. Look out for leads you will like to meet. Spend time and Catch up with your Family and Friends!
4.Meet up with leads, accept rejections. They could be headhunters, potential employers and if its business, potential clients. Take on a good opportunity that comes your way, even if you are underemployed to keep the cash flow. Plus it could be your business investment in future.
5.Volunteer! Volunteer at Associations and Charities, you never know what it will lead to, and without expecting anything in return.
6.Exercise! It’s time to shed some weight, tone up or simply stay healthy. Remember to get some sunlight, but to wear your sunblock! Take up a new good and healthy Hobby or Interest.
7.Be positive, good chi helps.
8.Take this time to Housekeep.
9.When you get your opportunities, be grateful, thank and always remember those that have helped you and your family.
10.Celebrate all wins, within your means.

About the Jewel of Muscat:
The governments of Oman and Singapore have launched the Jewel of Muscat project. This project covers the construction and voyage of a 9th-century Arab sailing ship.

A team of experts has built the Jewel of Muscat in a specially constructed shipyard on the beach in Qantab in Oman. They have used a range of historical sources, including archaeological findings from the 'Belitung Wreck', including the Tang Treasure, which was discovered in 1998 in Indonesia waters.

The ship has been constructed with the methods available to 9th-century Arab craftsmen. The planks have been sewn together using coconut fibre, and the square sails will be made of plaited palm leaves.

During its voyage, the team will use 9th-century navigation techniques.

The project is being funded and supported by the governments of Oman and Singapore.
The Jewel of Muscat is a gift from the Sultanate of Oman to the government and people of Singapore.

The voyage began in February 2010, with the Jewel of Muscat arriving in Singapore on 3 July 2010.

Every stage of the Jewel of Muscat's construction and voyage will be covered on the Jewel of Muscat’s official website. The site contains videos, photographs and interactive features. The project will also be filmed for a television documentary.

Miss Singapore Universe 2010 is delighted to reveal the Finalists at a Media Conference at A971 CAFE. Miss Singapore Universe 2010 is in its 11th year running by the organizer Derrol Stepenny Promotions, which helmed it since 2000.

To qualify, you will have to be a Singaporean, more than 1.65m in height and between the ages of 18 to 27 years old.

There are a total of 16 finalists.

Chef Jimmy Lo, was formerly from the Hyatt chain and Fullerton Hotel and started in the industry at a young age of 18 years old. He began practicing his culinary skills when he was living with his Dad, and wanted to cook delicious meals. In his past time, he enjoys playing varied sports.

Assistant Manager, Sean Hui, is 24 years old, and has been in the bar industry for 5 years, is great at experimenting with drink concoctions to achieve enjoyable and desirable tastes with guests. At A971 CAFE, he concocted the A971 Lychee Martini with a tinge of blue curacao and sake, making it a refreshing cocktail pleaser with the ladies.

Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizens' Consultative Committee on 7 Feb 2010.

For the Lunar New Year Mass Reunion Dinner, we have mobilised a total

Hi, wouldn't say that am a golfing person at all. The only golf experience was a basic course taken like 5 to 8 years back? Gosh have even forgotten how many years that has been. Probably also gave back the lessons learnt to the coach! But it is fun, with the greenery that you see and all. And yes over the festive season, there has been plenty of gossip and jokes surrounding Tiger's side addiction and crisis. But it doesn't stop from making the game approachable during the height of Tiger's fame and now. It is still expensive, and some say you still need a car to get you around. But think about it, most teens who started playing young and probably get by taking a cab to the range or course too for training. It's becoming fun, approachable and younger like tennis. But do slap on the sun block for the ladies, because you don't want to be burnt!

Hi, you may be wondering, "Hey end September why the silence?". Actually we were busy with enjoying the celebrations for Formula One. It was fantastic this year with F1 Rocks, simply glamourous and wonderful. Beyonce is a World Class Act and True DIVA. She engages the crowd so well, and her talent is WOW! Her dance, music and singing impress us all, Beyonce is FABulous! And the Black Eyed Peas is just as FANtastic!

Coming up will be the buzz for Christmas-New Year-Chinese New Year, and the Integrated Resorts in April 2010...

And so have some of our local Corporate brands who are internationally known. We are renowned for our food such as our version of Chicken Rice, Laksa, Chilli Crabs and more. Yes we do embrace the global culture, but we need to support our people too, especially in such tough times. If the aunties & uncles can work successfully at the famous fast food outlets, could it be our training and nurturing, management of talent and resources, and opportunities given to local talent too?

These days you meet the local Gen X, they are setting up their second home (having sold the first) or buying their first home. Its a great feeling to set up one's own nest. Yes the property market is hot and high, but whilst you wait for it to simmer off, your itch to travel might have come up again. It has twitched, after H1N1, its time to visit new places that you have always wished to, within a budget. Be it a beach, city or exotic destination, its great to getaway (can you find another word to replace this much used word) or escape into another world. To breathe the air of another place, taste the food and understand another country's culture. Yes, there is always the fear of the economy and one's job, but if you have the budget for it, you might have already booked something during Natas. Enjoy your holiday, the travel bug is back, at last!!

Orchard Road

The buzz is back, with ION and the new malls at Orchard Road. Though favourite place to shop for now, still has to be at VivoCity, because 90% of fav shops are there. Orchard now has the glow and sparkle becoming brighter, and hopefully will be shining in time for Christmas before the buzz goes to Marina and Sentosa next year. Was at Cuppage Plaza to get Kazu cravings http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/kazu_sumiyaki_restaurant/, the skewer delicacies were simply divine. Cuppage Plaza is filled with Karaoke Bars and Japanese restaurants, its still nice to cozy up at this joint known for its food. And head for some entertainment at Emerald Hill after. I use to work at M Hotel, at one point many of the taxi drivers were sending the expats to M Hotel instead of Emerald, somehow it sounded quite similar. A street filled with fav bars serving still very good drinks, and zings. And for some a great band or if you're in for comedy, there's jeer and beer in the spirit of jest.

F1 Rocks

F1 is round the corner again. Do you feel the same way about this, that come September many cars around you seem to be driving as if they are in F1 including the taxi drivers? The sound of the real F1 cars together is fantastic, leaving a thrilling tingle down your spine. So even if you're not viewing from the stands, being at a restaurant or bar near the circuit and watching on the big screen, is a fabulous euphoria in itself. The media were complaining about the glam last year. Well this year, there is F1 Rocks concert, and am absolutely on high that Beyonce and Black Eyed Peas are performing on 26th September 2009 at Fort Canning Park because they can really work the crowds and get them bootyshakin'. So make a date with us if you're into the glam duo act. I thought one could have a nice picnic whilst watching but apparently not, there's too much dancing and jumpin' that will be happenin' in this concert, especially held at the greens. http://www.f1rocks.com/singapore09/
